MARVAC Show Season Ends in SUCCESS!
The last RV pulled out of the Grand Traverse Civic Center’s Howe Ice Arena around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 24th, ending the MARVAC winter-spring show schedule for 2013. This year has started with a surge of enthusiastic RV buyers and owners who all seemed to be seeking the newest in RV design, the latest gadget and the newest campground for the upcoming camping season. Each show featured its own unique collection of RV dealers offering a wide array of travel trailers, 5th wheel travel trailers and all types of motorhomes. A simple observation from show staff is that the Class “B” motorhomes were receiving unusually high portion of the consumers attention. First month’s sales figures are up a whopping 126% (okay, it is only January sales figures). It is feeling like a good year ahead for all segments of our industry.
As the warmer weather slowly and we do mean slowly moves in, some of us begin to think of other outdoor activities. One of our favorites around the association office is golf! We invite you to mark June 10th on your calendar for the HARVEST Golf Outing which will be held at the Majestic Golf Course in Hartland next to Walden Woods Campground, a MARVAC member. The proceeds from this annual event go towards providing scholarship monies for deserving students who are connected to our industry.

2013 Harvest Golf Tournament
Join us for the 18th Annual HARVEST Golf Tournament Honoring Bob Pelkey and Howard Monson on June 10th at The Majestic at Walden Lake, in Hartland.
The registration fee will remain the same as in 2012,
which is $145 per golfer.

Scott Krenek Elected Chairman of RV Rental Association
(Fairfax, VA) The RVDA Board of Directors elected Scott Krenek, owner of Krenek RV Center of Coloma, MI, to chair the RV Rental Association (RVRA).
He will serve out the unexpired term of outgoing RVRA Chairman Bert Alanko of MBA Insurance and serve an additional year as the rental association’s representative on the RVDA Board of Directors.
“I would like to thank the RVDA Board of Directors on my election to RVRA Chairman,” Krenek said when notified of his election. “I look forward to working with the RVDA Board to continue and build on the great work of former Chairman Bert Alanko. I encourage all RVRA/RVDA members to diversify, plus expand their RV Rental fleets, and to take advantage of all the education opportunities RVRA/RVDA offers.”
Krenek brings to the position an extensive background in the RV rental business and a reputation as a leader in the field. An owner and operator for more than 35 years, he was instrumental in starting the industry’s first 20 Group focused exclusively on helping dealers improve their rental operations. Krenek has also served as an instructor at the RV Dealers International Convention/Expo and the annual RV Rental School organized by MBA Insurance.
“Scott has a long history of serving RVRA and its members as an educator and mentor,” said RVDA Chairman of the Board Jeff Hirsch of Campers Inn. “We are pleased he will be joining the RVDA Board of Directors.”
The action took place during the RVDA Board of Directors meeting in Fairfax, VA, March 18-20. In other related action, the RVDA Board of Directors:
- approved recommendations by the Nominating Committee to institute a new policy that will include the RVRA Chairman’s position in the association’s annual nomination and election process.
- directed the RVRA Board of Directors to recommend an organizational structure for the rental association in accordance with the RVDA bylaws.
RVRA is the national association of RV rental companies and a division of RVDA.

Congratulations to Beth Monicatti-Blank and the All Seasons Communications staff!
ASC has recently been certified as a business owned and controlled by a woman by the National Women Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC), the first national certifier of Women Business Enterprises. Over 700 public and private sector individuals participated in establishing the standards and procedures of this rigid certification review. The goal of the certification program is to increase the ability of women business owners to compete for contracts at a national level.
