2013 HARVEST Golf Tournament Recap

This year’s 18th Annual HARVEST Golf Tournament Honoring former Executive Director Bob Pelkey and past Board Chairman Howard Monson was a huge success! Despite the morning rain over 60 golfers came out to play. The weather miraculously cooperated, as the rain subsided at the Noon shotgun start and held off until the conclusion of the day’s events.
Thanks to the contributions of our golfers and sponsors over $9,500 was raised for HARVEST scholarship recipients!

We’d like to thank member The Majestic at Walden Lake, andWaldenwoods Resort & Conference Center in Hartland for graciously hosting our tournament.

We’d also like to one again thank all of our generous sponsors!

Important Fuel Buying Facts from MMH & RVCA

When purchasing fuel there are a couple of important things to consider when comparative shopping. Fuel that is delivered to an onsite tank is generally more expensive then fuel purchased “on the street”, can be in the area of .15 – .30 cents per gallon more by the time you figure in the delivery charge. In addition to the upfront costs, you also are counting on buying when the market is most favorable which, based on the volatility of today’s market, is near impossible to forecast.

In addition to the lack of monitoring capabilities with on site fuel tanks you should also consider the possible EPA side effects involved with overfills and ground contamination and the related fines as well as the remediation costs. Also to be considered are the liability aspects of maintaining on site fueling for your insurance premiums.

With card based purchased systems it is also important to consider credit card pricing at the pump… otherwise known as the “bump-at-the-pump” practice. Most, but not all, retailers in Southeast Michigan currently advertise a cash price and a credit price and most non-branded credit cards (MC/VISA/AMEX) or even Universal Fleet cards, which offer superior controls and tracking, currently incur the “bump-at-the-pump” increasing the users cost per gallon between .06 and .10 cents per gallon!

The MMH & RVCA has partnered with the SuperFleet card product from Speedway LLC. Speedway is one of the only retailers in SE Michigan not charging the credit card price at any of their locations! In addition to cash pricing at Speedway, Superfleet offers full controls and tracking capabilities as well as a full .05 cent per gallon discount of any purchases made at Speedway or Marathon branded locations, over 1,200 locations in Michigan!

New applicants for the SuperFleet card will receive an introductory discount at Speedway of .10 cents per gallon for the first 3 months on the program.* During the introductory promotion customer can also receive a .05 cents per gallon on their Marathon purchases as well.

Please call your Superfleet Account Manager, Tom Farnham @ 989-615-2736 to apply today and take advantage of the premier no charge/no cost fleet fueling product available today.

*Many Marathon locations do apply the credit price at their locations when using the SuperFleet card.
