Go RVing B-Roll and Still Photography Shoot in Michigan

In an effort to provide the most up-to-date b-roll video footage and lifestyle photographs, Go RVing will be conducting a production shoot in Michigan the week of August 10, 2013. The purpose of the shoot is to showcase new vehicles in photos and video that will be provided to national media, industry members including dealers and retail show promoters, as well as to be used to refresh the GoRVing.com, RVIA.org and the expanding RV social media programs.

A variety of RV’s will be shown in traditional campground settings as well as scenic “on the road” locations along Lake Michigan’s eastern shore area. Two local campgrounds have been chosen to provide a background for camping scenes.

Photos and videos will be shot of both the interior and exterior of each RV. Manufacturers who will be providing the selection of RVs are encouraged to include as many amenities as possible, including slideouts, televisions, GPS system, automatic leveling systems, automatic awnings, rear cameras, computer connections, exterior entertainment areas and other features that increase the vehicle’s appeal.

“Michigan’s RV industry representatives look forward to hosting RVIA during their visit to “Pure Michigan”, says Bill Sheffer, Director of MARVAC (Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds). “There are many benefits to having these types of media materials for the purpose of promoting the RV industry. Even better is that Michigan will serve as the back drop for those pictures and videos!”

This year’s induction dinner will be the largest event attended with industry giants plus past inductees and future legends. Dick Jennison, president and CEO of the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI), will serve as keynote speaker. Jennison oversees the government relations and advocacy efforts on behalf of all segments of the manufactured housing industry.

Come and meet the inductee class of 2013:

Craig M. Bollman, Mobile Home Communities

Thomas P. Meyers, Guerdon Industries
Claude N. Palmer (deceased), Palmer Homes

A unique aspect of the 2013 Induction Dinner is the announcement that a new multi-section manufactured home, built by Fairmont Homes, will be displayed at the Museum over the next 12 months. The three-bedroom, two-bath home will feature approximately 1620 square feet of living space, with entrance porch, state-of-the art kitchen, heating and air conditioning systems, recessed lighting fixtures, and 5-inch crown moldings in its family/public spaces.

“We are extremely pleased to announce that this Fairmont manufactured home will soon be added to the RV/MH Hall of Fame so that our many visitors can fully appreciate first-hand the tremendous advances being achieved in today’s manufactured homes,” stated Barry Cole, chairman of the RV/MH Heritage Foundation. “The footings for the home have already been constructed and the home is now being built in Fairmont’s nearby factory. We are hopeful that the home will be on display at the Museum for the Induction Ceremony,” Cole stated.

The RV/MH Hall of Fame honors the pioneers and individuals who have made significant contributions to the recreational vehicle and manufactured housing industries. Since its founding in 1972, a total of 339 men and women have been inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame.

“Monday, August 5, is an important day for the Hall,” said Darryl Searer, president of the Hall, “and I urge everyone to set aside the day to celebrate the induction into the RV/MH Hall of Fame the Class of 2013, hear our keynote speaker Dick Jennison, and participate in our Annual Golf Classic fundraiser.”

College Intern at General RV Receives 2013-2014 RV Learning Center Scholarship

(Fairfax, VA) – Haley Marie Kurtz, a rising college senior who has worked as an intern at General RV in Wixom, MI, and in customer service for Crossroads RV, is the 2013-14 recipient of the RV Learning Center Scholarship. The $2,500 annual scholarship is endowed through the Kindlund Family Foundation.

Kurtz, who grew up in Elkhart, IN, is a student at John Brown University where she is pursuing a B.A. in History with a minor in Business Administration. Her work at General RV included developing means to improve relationships between RV dealers and campgrounds.

The scholarship recipient says a research assignment entitled, “Twentieth Century American Consumerism and its Effect on the RV Industry,” solidified her interest in the RV Industry. She plans to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration and work in the RV industry after completing her undergraduate studies.

Haley’s background in her step dad’s RV service business and current experience at General RV and Crossroads RV make her just the type of student we are proud to name as our scholarship recipient,” said Newt Kindlund. “Between school and work, Haley is making a commitment to her future and the future of our industry and that is noteworthy in itself.”

The RV Learning Center Scholarship Program recognizes deserving rising college sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Applicants are judged on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and honors, RV industry involvement, financial need, and a 500-word essay. The program has awarded more than $56,000 to 23 students since its inception in 2000.

The Kindlund family, which endowed the scholarship program with $270,000, remains active in the RV industry even after selling its corporation, Holiday RV Superstores, in 1999. Newt Kindlund serves on the RV Learning Center Board of Directors.

The RV Learning Center is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions may be tax-deductible as charitable donations. Visitwww.rvlearningcenter.com for more information.
