OKEMOS, Mich.—One definite advantage to living in Michigan are the distinct seasons which allow RVers ample opportunities to enjoy fun, new and exciting adventures.
Crisp, cool mornings, birds chirping, blossoming tulips and the many festivals Michigan has to offer— are all signs of spring. After months of a Michigan winter, RVers are able to trek to their favorite destination to celebrate the long-awaited arrival of warmer temperatures. Check with your favorite campground to determine if they are ready and open.
Summer is a great opportunity to enjoy leisurely days at the beach, play in the sparkling waters of the Great Lakes and enjoy quality time spent with the family. Set off in your RV and visit a lighthouse, eat lunch alongside a waterfall or visit tourist towns offering quaint shops, friendly people and cozy restaurants. There are nearly 1,100 private campgrounds in Michigan, located along the Great Lakes and near popular summer destinations.
The cooler temperatures might make you trade in your tank top for a hoodie, but it doesn’t mean it’s time to put away the RV. Autumn is the best time to visit any of the bountiful apple orchards or the 117 commercial wineries with 15,000 acres of scenic vineyards across the state. Enjoy the brisk, fresh air while sipping a cup of warm apple cider or biting into a crisp Michigan apple after setting up camp. Enjoy a spectacular color tour and experience Mother Nature’s foliage with Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) helping you map out the route.
As fall gives way to winter, there is no question why Michigan is often referred to as a “Winter Wonderland.” Create memories with your children by making snow angels in the fresh snowfall. The legendary lake-effect snow supports the many downhill ski resorts, miles of snowmobile trails and Nordic ski trails across the state. Equipped with thermostatically controlled furnaces and water heaters, your RV becomes the perfect mobile lodge. There are several year-round campgrounds in Michigan (and you can find them on the MARVAC website), but be aware many have reduced services during winter months.
