to Customize Your Campsite
Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds
Every high season, some RVers return to a lot they’ve owned for years while others might set up camp in a new summer rental; either way, it is important for the campsite to feel like home. Depending on where you’re parked, rules may
vary; but generally, guests and owners are allowed to customize and decorate their lot to their heart’s desire.
on the move - and not take up a lot of space. There are so many choices now for chairs and loveseats and cushions that you’ll be able
to find something with the right look and character for your campsite. Be sure to explore your options before you make a purchase. Find furniture in a bright color or a fun pattern to make it stand out from the rest!
4. Add a Durable Deck
Outdoor rugs and mats are a dime-a- dozen, not to mention they can get wet
and dirty pretty quickly. So instead of going the traditional route, why not explore the possibilities of a customizable deck? Amazon and The Home Depot (search for “interlocking outdoor patio tiles” or “interlocking deck tiles”) offer a wide array of options – colors,

1. Personalized Yard Sign
A custom yard sign is a great way to show off your family’s personality as well
as welcome your guests. Signs can range from a personalized greeting message, to
a celebration of your favorite sports team
or university. It can even feature a picture
of your family pet. If you’ve never explored the wonders of Etsy (www.etsy.com), we recommend you give it a try! This site allows
you to order customized signs from artists around the world, for a reasonable price. Find the perfect representation of your family and proudly display it out front.
2. Decorative Outdoor Lighting
Good lighting can make a world of difference, especially when you’re spending
a lot of time outdoors at night. Decorative lighting is an easy way to spice up your site while creating the perfect mood lighting for a campfire get together. Your choice of lighting can range from simple string lights along the awning – these are especially handy if your rig is not equipped with outdoor LED lighting – or fun tiki torches that will help keep hungry

mosquitos at bay. A simple Internet search can connect you to hundreds of kinds of outdoor lighting, so you’ll certainly be able to find something that matches your style. But don’t go too overboard with outdoor lighting –
you wouldn’t want to interfere with your view of the stars!
3. Comfortable Outdoor Furniture
You likely spend a lot of time outdoors when you’re at the park, whether you’re telling ghost stories around the fire or entertaining guests, so you’ll want to be comfortable. When looking for outdoor furniture, besides overall comfort, you’ll want to be sure to find pieces that are lightweight, durable, and easily transported – especially if your site doesn’t have a coach house for storage.
If you’re renting for a season or are planning to travel more than you’re parked, consider investing in furniture that can compact. You’ll want something that you can fold up and put away for when you’re
sizes, and materials – to fit any campsite. These lightweight, interlocking tiles are not only extremely durable, they’re far more cost-effective than many other options on the market. They’re especially useful if you have a large rig and a small cement plot because they can be easily placed over grass.
