You don’t need a special occasion or a “holiday” like National Cookie Day to make some treats for yourself, whether you’re in the RV or not. These three cookie recipes can easily be made at the campsite, but they can be used in traditional sticks and bricks homes as well.

Giant Oreo Skillet Cookie – Courtesy of The Kitchen Magpie
Milk’s favorite cookie meets a camper’s favorite cookware, the cast iron skillet. You really can’t beat a warm cookie fresh from the pan, and the best part about this recipe is that it requires very little time or preparation. Just buy two ingredients from your local grocery store. You won’t need to worry much about cleanup – this cookie will be gone in a snap.
Ingredients
- 30 ounces tube of pre-made chocolate chip cookie dough
- Bag of Oreo cookies
Instructions
- Take your Pillsbury cookie dough of choice and press into the bottom of the cast iron skillet.
- Chop up as many Oreos as you can possibly fit onto the top of the dough.
- Press the Oreos into the cookie dough slightly.
- Bake in a 350 degree BBQ or house oven (or trailer oven) for 17-20 minutes, watching it carefully to see when the cookie finally reaches a beautiful golden brown.
Pie Iron Cookies
Mix up outdoor gatherings – even winter ones – by providing friends and family members with pie irons instead of marshmallow skewers. You can make delicious homemade cookies!
Simply coat the inside of the pie iron generously with non-stick cooking spray and then spread about 2 Tablespoons of dough onto one side of the iron, pressing the dough down slightly. Repeat with the other side of the iron. Don’t close the pie iron. Leave it open faced over a fire for about 12 minutes, checking to see if the cookies are golden brown around the edges.
You can use any favorite cookie dough recipe, or you can buy pre-made cookie dough from the grocery store. Chocolate chip, sugar, butterscotch, s’more, the choice is yours (we do, however, have some ideas for Christmas). Just don’t forget the milk.
