Governor Snyder Signs “Sales Tax on the Difference” Legislation
Michigan recreation vehicle buyers will see a tax break when trading in an older vehicle when purchasing a new recreation vehicle from a Michigan licensed RV dealer. The new legislation covers automobiles and boats in addition to RVs, making Michigan one of the last states in the country to adopt the policy. Jon Caswell, owner of Caswell RV and former owner of Caswell Ford in Ionia has been looking forward to this day for more than 30 years. Jon currently serves on the MARVAC board of directors and previously served on the Michigan Automobile Dealer Association board of directors. “This will help Michigan RV dealers be more competitive with out of state dealers when competing on price” said Caswell. “As a car dealer for so many years and RV dealer most recently, I have always been a proponent of being able to offer our customers this tax incentive.” A customer who buys an RV beginning December 15th of this year will save as much as $120 with a trade-in.
