RV/MH Heritage Foundation Announces Class of 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees
ELKHART, Ind., – The board of directors of the RV/MH Heritage Foundation (Foundation) has announced the names of those who will be inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame (Hall) in August as the Class of 2015.
Foundation President Darryl Searer said, “Congratulations to the ten new honorees. All of them have had or are having outstanding careers and are richly deserving of this high honor.”
Searer also applauded the work of the nominating committee that had to narrow a list of nearly 60 highly deserving candidates down to the final ten selected. He said, “I was especially impressed with the committee’s work for the diversity of this year’s class-not only in the inductee’s gender, but also the diversity of regions within the U.S. as well as the diversion of nominee’s industry segments such as suppliers, manufacturers, dealers, association executives.”
The Class of 2015 includes longtime MARVAC Member Marlene Sine:
Marlene Sine
Marlene Sine and Associates
Michigan
Manufacturer’s Agent
As the first RV industry woman manufacturer’s agent, Marlene Sine introduced thousands of products to the industry by educating and training others on how to promote products to the distributor, dealer and consumer. In her more than 50-year career, she volunteered thousands of hours to serve and support many industry associations such as WDA, RVAA, MARVAC, and RVIA, and she’s a driving force of the professionalism in today’s aftermarket. In addition to being manufacturer’s agent, she’s also an aftermarket parts and accessories store owner and developed new products for the industry as a supplier. Marlene earned the respect of her colleagues as a person with the highest degree of honesty and integrity.
MARVAC Hosts Successful Campground Conference
The association’s conference center in Okemos was the sight of this year’s campground conference and holiday luncheon this past Wednesday. Over thirty participants heard from a variety of speakers including newly appointed vice-president of Travel Michigan, David West. David assured the attendees that he’s aware of the impact camping and recreation vehicle travel have on the state’s tourism industry. He referred to the resources the state has to help support the travel experience of both in state and out of state travelers. He comes on board with high enthusiasm and wants to see the highly recognized marketing campaign continue its successful run.
Members found Mark Torregrossa, MLive.com Chief Meteorologist to be highly informative and entertaining in presenting his weather forecasting tips and safety recommendations to campground owners and managers. Other speakers included Cheryl Russell of All Seasons Communications, who offered some timely thoughts on using social media to promote member campgrounds; Carrie Monosmith and Paul Sisson of Michigan’s Department of Environmental Quality explained rule changes to the total coliform rule and the progress of the task force currently working on the rules and regulations that govern campgrounds in Michigan. The day was topped off with “free” legal comments from the association’s General Counsel, William Perrone.
Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground owner, Vince Rogala commented that he had not been to recent MARVAC campground conferences but really enjoyed the format of the day’s meeting. “Coming from Mackinaw City, the later starting time and conclusion of the meeting mid-afternoon, allowed me to do the travel and meeting all in one day! The speakers were informative and I can take the information I gathered here back to my business.”
