GOVERNOR SNYDER DECLARES JULY OFFICIAL,
“CAMPING & RV MONTH”
For the second year in a row, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has declared a “Michigan Camping & Recreation Vehicle Month,” to be held in July–following last year’s success in the month of August. Camping is a key contributor to the state’s $17 billion tourism industry. The declaration supports the economic and recreational contributions that the camping industry provides to Michigan’s overall tourism, as well as promoting camping as an inexpensive and family-friendly recreation option year-round in our state.
Both Michiganders and visitors alike take advantage of the state’s array of sun, freshwater coastline, 19 million acres of woodlands, soft breezes and fresh air, where the temperate climate allows for great camping and outdoor recreation–making it the ultimate Pure Michigan experience!

MAJOR MARVAC
Your Association’s Political Action Committee (PAC) is bringing back Major MARVAC. As a superhero, he will be recruiting PAC members to help champion good causes for MARVAC and report on the status of MARVAC legislation.
The brainchild of former MARVAC Director Lyn Wellhausen and (now retired) Founder of the All Seasons Agency, Ken Monicatti, Major MARVAC was introduced to the Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds in October, 1989 as the spokesperson for all that MARVAC did and was a positive media tool.
Look to your mail for an important message from Major MARVAC this month.
Joining Major MARVAC in recruiting PAC members is Cindy Brownridge. The Association’s former Executive Secretary (1995-2007), Cindy is “pleased to be back managing one of her passions”—your Association Political Action Committee. Look for Cindy to call on you in the coming months.

MARVAC GETS OUT TO PLAY AT THE CAPITOL
MARVAC was happy to participate in the “Get Outside and Play at the Capitol” event on June 19th in Lansing, Michigan!
Some of the fun activities for kids included: canoe and kayak simulations, disc golf on the Capitol lawn, areas to cast fishing lines, nature interpretation, and other fun outdoor-inspired activities and games!!
