With warm weather finally upon us, many Michiganders are getting their rigs out of storage, digging their summerwear out from the depths of their closets, and daydreaming of the delicious meals they’ll be creating by the campfire.
Of the long list of attributes that make us lucky to call Michigan home, one of the greatest is our fresh produce. With over 10 million acres of farmland, most of which are family owned and operated, we have an abundance of farmers’ markets, farm-to-table restaurants, and fresh produce stands. You’ll be hard-pressed to drive more than a few miles along the countryside without passing a sign for fresh picked fruits and vegetables.
So as a way to celebrate, many Michigan towns play host to an annual festival dedicated solely to their favorite produce; from blueberries to asparagus, there’s a festival worth attending! So pick a weekend, a produce, and a MARVAC member campground this summer and experience a family friendly, fun-filled weekend –bonus points if you attend them all!
